When I arrived at school the next day, I spotted Axel in the hallway, deep in conversation with a teacher. Though I couldn't catch their words, it was clear he was reprimanding her about something. It seemed he enjoyed asserting his authority, or at least that’s what I gathered. I decided to walk by without saying anything and headed to my locker, where I met up with Paige and Collins. “How was work last night?” Collins inquired softly. “It was fine—just the usual boring computer tasks I could do in my sleep,” I replied. “Seriously?
