With only a split second to decide, Lyra turned and rushed around the back of the building. She went around the far corner just as the two guards came around to her previous position. “See?” one of them said. “I told you there was nothing. Our shift is over anyway, we are done here.” “I must have imagined it,” the other one said. “Alright, let's go.” The guards walked away and Lyra waited a while before looking around the building. After confirming that they were gone, she retraced her steps. It was a good thing that they were changing shifts, which would make it easier for her to slip past the most heavily guarded areas without notice.
