“How is Zero?” Lyra asked Julian. Beryl was checking his condition while Julian and Asher stood by. Royal guards had rushed forward to keep guests from joining the fray on the altar.
“He is alive, but he needs immediate medical attention,” he told her. “We are taking him to the infirmary.”
“BEHEAD HER!” a guest screamed, trying to get past the guards.
“I’ve got this,” Lyra told Julian when he looked at Anna behind her. “Take care of Zero and I’ll deal with this.”
“Kill me,” Anna cried. “I’ve been bewitched. Someone is controlling me.”
