The sheer force of it rattled the earth beneath my feet. The blast sent Daniel and Sam hurtling through the air like ragdolls, their bodies colliding with the ground in sickening thuds. “Oh my—” I choked on my breath as the powerful shockwave rolled outward, slamming into me with enough force to almost knock me off balance. Amaris began crying and I screamed, my instincts taking over as I turned my body to shield my daughter from the impact. “What was that?!” I heard Quinn’s shocked voice somewhere. “ALLISON!” Liam’s voice cut through the chaos, and suddenly his arms were around me, steadying me as I swayed on my feet.
