Mateo was pissed the person after the familia's had gotten the drop on him. His father had assured him this person was smart, willful, and determined. "But they didn't kill you." He murmured concerned about what that could mean.
Mateo didn't tell anyone about the burner.
If he did the others would want to know if they were in the clear or not and he only cared about one thing. His family.
Everyone else could wait.
Mateo walked out of his father's study and groaned when his best friend appeared, "Not now Miguel I'm not in the mood." Miguel chuckled and said, "Well let's get you in the mood. We go to the club house, get some women, and show them a good time yeah?"
Miguel's brother, Julio walked to them and smirked, "Sounds fun count me in." Mateo despite his protest was taken to the club house with the other club members were.
They were handling large wads of money, drugs, and girls danced around half naked entertaining the men in the room. Massimo sat rolling a joint on the couch with their cousin Roberto and smiled seeing him, "Hey big brother, finally getting the stick out I see."
Flipping his little brother off, Mateo smiled when a little red head handed him a scotch.
"How's your old man cousin?" Roberto asked concern, "He's good. Shaken because we thought for a second they were coming for him." Massimo shook his head, "I wonder what Don Stephano did though? He seemed like a good dude."
Mateo shook his head, "He was abusive to his wife and family. Raped her and his daughter, his servants." Massimo looked at him shocked as Miguel winced in disgust, "What an asshole! He got what he deserved then." Julian flopped down beside Miguel and asked, "Who got what they deserved?"
Massimo caught their friend up to speed and he rolled his light brown eyes, "Oh him. Yeah he did. To tell you I was f*****g heated to hear that douche was doing that."
Julian hated any man for harming a woman. Even though he was a big guy that looked mean as f**k with his tattoos, scars, and long mane of brown hair, he was a good guy.
He'd never intentionally hurt someone unless they deserved it.
Roberto sighed, "So any idea on who might be next? Like should we be hiding indoors from now on?" Mateo accepted the lit joint from his brother and off handedly said, "I don't know...everyone they've targeted was in the human trafficking game. Not that many Dons do that, but some do rape women that fall into their laps."
Massimo smirked, "Speaking of falling into laps."
Suddenly Martine jumped right into Mateo's lap and he suppressed a growl, "What do you want? Get off me!" Martine pouted, "Come mi amour, I thought we could...catch up. Like old times."
Miguel scoffed, "Yeah just because you can clean your p***y darling doesn't mean he wants Fabio's leftovers from twenty minutes ago."
Mateo rolled his eyes pushing the half dressed slut off him, "Don't care who the f**k she's been with, I don't want whatever disease she has."
Martine made a noise of protest but Mateo gave her a nasty look. "f**k off Martine, I had a stressful day and you will get a bullet in the mouth if you keep it up!" Martine realizing Mateo wasn't playing a game, scurried off to find new prey and he quickly downed the rest of his drink.
Roberto lit another joint as the one Massimo had rolled was still going around. "You good cousin? You seem more tense than usual." Massimo chuckled, "No he needs to get laid before he shoots someone."
Shooting his little brother a deadly look he hissed, "It'll be you if you keep it up."
Massimo held his hands up in mock surrender.
After more weed was smoked and drinks poured, Mateo went outside for air. Letting the night breeze gently brush his dark hair across his face, Mateo enjoyed the peace for awhile.
The quiet.
When his phone rang though he reached for it annoyed. Seeing it still dark, he hesitantly reached into his pocket and pulled out the burner phone. Looking at the private number he held up the phone and answered it slowly, "Hello?"
Noise was heard but then he heard the same voice modifier, "Your father is safe."
Mateo relaxed ten folds and looked around nervous, "Can we talk? Face to face?" The voice chuckled, "Why do you want to see my face?" Mateo sighed, "So I can look you in the eye and ask why."
The modified voice sighed, "Why what? Why I kill the evil men you all idly stand by and let hurt innocent people?"
Mateo shook his head, "You know in our world it's considered disrespect for us to do anything to them for what they do. We'd be murdered in our beds. My mother and sister...well you can imagine what they'd indure. It's horrible I know, but we didn't become this successful killing Dons and making enemies left and right. We pick and choose carefully."
The voice made a noise, "Well lucky you I've killed most of your enemies now. The men that disgust you, that make you want to shoot them in the head."
Mateo leaned against the wall, "How did you know how I felt?" The voice chuckled, "If you wanted to stop me from killing them, you would have told someone about the burner."
Mateo couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face. "I want to meet." He insisted.
The voice hummed, "We'll see. Until then know you're familia is safe from me."
Mateo groaned when the person hung up. "Damn it." He cursed.
