Summer/ Madeline’s POV
“AGAIN SUBJECT 56.”
My finger touches the trigger as I fight against it with everything in me.
Blood seeps down the front of Sebastian’s body yet still he doesn’t move.
He knows that if he does… Nina will shoot me in the head before he can stop her.
He’s sacrificing himself… he’s doing it for me.
“DO IT!! DO IT NOW!!” Nina screams at me again.
I look in his perfect green eyes and then, just like that, I have a moment of absolute clarity.
I try to breathe, focusing on that one simple action.
I need to gain back control… I have to force her out of my head once and for all.
“DIDN’T YOU HEAR ME?!”
I let calmness settle over me, filling me up inside and flushing my brain free of her.
“SUBJECT 56! SHOOT HIM!!”
I hear her order resonate in my minds
