Morielle was with King Raithen at the breakfast table in the family room. With Morielle’s persuasion, she thought it would be good if they all shared breakfast everyday, so all his wives and children were also present there. She thought it would be a good sign that the king did not totally abandon his other wives, especially his children. She broke the usual eating habits of the entire royal family, who only had meals together whenever the king liked it.
A panting messenger greeted them all and delivered news as they were about to finish their meal.
“My liege, you might want to see something outside the fortress,” the messenger said.
“And what is it that I should see?” King Raithen calmly queried. He appeared to be unperturbed by the news, although the messenger’s tone was urgent.
