It was as if my hearing suddenly became clearer, as though all the noise in the world faded just so I could hear his words perfectly. “W-What did you say?” I asked in a whisper.
“I’m asking you when we’re going to visit the Kingdom of the Dogs,” he said calmly.
Without thinking, I gently pushed against his chest. He immediately let go of his embrace. I looked up into his eyes, meeting them with a seriousness that mirrored my own swirling emotions.
“Y-You’re coming with me?” I murmured, my voice catching in my throat. “You’re agreeing to what I want?”
“Do you really think I haven’t been listening to you?” he asked, eyes fixed on mine. “Do you think I don’t understand what you’re trying to tell me?”
