The moment the knight spoke those words to me, everything else around me seemed to fade.
For a second, I just stood stunned, my mind struggling to catch up with what I had just heard. Then I turned swiftly back to face the royal kitchen staff, unable to stop the wide smile that broke across my face. The same joy was mirrored in theirs, their eyes lighting up with a shared sense of relief and wonder. The news had reached their ears too and just like me, they had been praying for this moment.
“I’m going now! I’ll come back later!” I told them quickly, barely able to contain the tremble of excitement in my voice.
They all nodded in agreement, some even urging me to go.
