My tires screeched as I drove out of the estate gate, my hands trembling on the steering wheel, my heart hammering loud.
The event that happened in the house had distracted me and now that it was out of the way my apprehension was back. Only Serena mattered.
“Please," I breathed into the demented quiet of the car. "Please let her be okay. Please don't take her from me."
The street was bright and busy. I barely noticed the blaring horns of drivers or my phone buzzing in the cup holder. I just kept my eyes focused on the road.
Suddenly, a car was coming towards me with full force. I screamed and swerved with all my might.The tyres squealed as the car spun round. But somehow somehow I didn't hit anyone. I missed the hit with a scratch.
