LIANA'S POV The moment the bell buzzed and I heard the intercom beep on the security system, I already had a bad feeling. Something in the stillness of the moment sent shivers down my spine. I stepped out just as the uniformed messenger stepped out of the car, sealed manila envelope in his gloved hand. "Miss Davids?" he asked. "Yes." He held it out to me, polite but clearly used to uncomfortable encounters. "Signed delivery. Acceptance, please." I signed in silence, fingers never leaving the weighty envelope.
