Isabel froze. Her mind couldn’t catch up with what her eyes were seeing. Isaac stood there, water dripping down his chest, the towel hanging low around his hips. For a moment, she forgot how to breathe. Her lips parted, but no sound came out. “Isabel,” he said quietly, disbelief filling his voice. The sound of her name snapped her out of her trance. She flinched, stepping back so fast she almost tripped over the mop. “Don’t come near me!” she shouted. He stopped instantly, his chest rising and falling, eyes locked on hers. “You’re here,” he whispered. “Stay away from me!” she yelled, grabbing for the handle.
