My breath hitched sharply as my chest brushed against his bare torso. His skin was warm, hot like he radiated some impossible inner fire. My palms instinctively pressed against him, trying to steady myself, but the contact only made everything worse. I felt the hard lines of muscle beneath my fingers. The steady thrum of his heartbeat beneath his skin. It was too much. “Skye...” he breathed, voice low and hoarse, like it had been dragged from the depths of his chest. I swallowed hard, but my mouth was dry. My thoughts scattered. My knees trembled. “I didn’t mean to—” I started, but my voice was small, uncertain.
