I finish unpacking and I put my family photo on the bed stand inside the banker bed. This picture resembles my happiness. This bed will be where I find my peace. Just then Nita walks back into the room. "Hey girl, you ready to meet more people?" "As ready as I'll ever be" "Oh and before I forget, here's your uniforms. Fortunately, its only required to wear when you are out of the hospital, otherwise it's just your usual scrubs" I look at the two perfectly pressed white uniforms with black ties and white skirts. I think to myself, that this isn't a joke anymore and that I have actually arrived. Life will never be the same again.  "So when do I get to wear my normal clothes?" "Oh, on your off days, of course. Now, let's go eat some dinner" I hang my uniforms in the closet and follow Nita to the mess hall. My senses are filled with the most delicious smells coming from the kitchen. I didn't expect to experience the air to be filled with the aroma of good food. Everywhere I look I see Navy men and women talking and eating. The tables are very small and the seats are close together. I can't help touching the person next to me when I sit down to eat. I find a place to sit right in the middle of the room. "Welcome to the mess hall. Where we get to be normal human beings and not soldiers and doctors. Let me get us some food, safe my place" "But, you can't leave-" I hold up my hand to stop her but she's  already at the food station. I look around me and I notice that almost every eye is on me and the soldiers aren't ashamed to show the liking they have in me. I quickly look down, after one of the soldiers whistled at me. Then I hear the voices grow softer as I feel someone sitting next to me. "Hey" I don't have to look to know, who's sitting next to me, I know it's Liam. The people adore him and I can hear the absolute respect in the air when he walked in. I recognize him from his low deep voice and musky scent radiating from his skin. His arm lightly grazes mine and I feel a prickle of heat flowing through my veins. "Hey" "Are you finding everything to your liking so far?" "Yes, thank you for asking" I look up into his beautiful blue eyes and see that sparkle is back when I met him. I notice that all the men that were looking at me, just a moment ago, now suddenly are very busy eating their food. Liam must have more power over these men, then he leads me to believe. "Where's Helena, I'm sorry....Dr. Dickson? Is she joining us?" "Oh, yeah...uhm...she...I don't really know where she is. She said she had to go and I don't really ask where she goes or what she does?" "Oh, okay. Are you eating with us mere mortals tonight?" I laugh and I see him smiling at me but then his smile disappears and he just stares at me as if he hasn't seen me before. I wave a hand in front of his eyes. He shakes his head. "I'm sorry...I think, I'm in need of some sleep. You have a great night, maybe I'll see you tomorrow?" He stands up and walks out of the room. The noises get louder again but this time the people's looks are different somehow and I am sure they're talking about me. It's not the same looks as before. LIAM POV I almost run to my room and locks the door. I slide down the door. I feel myself breathing heavily and I slam my hands in my face, letting my head fall in them. Liam! Control yourself, goddammit!  I have a girlfriend. Dammit! She's just so...so irresistible...What am I going to do? I need to steer clear of her, I'll lose myself completely in her. Then there's a knock on his door. I jump up and straighten my hair and I open the door. A soldier salutes me. "Sir! Master Chief! Sir!" "At ease soldier, what can I help you with?" "Yes, Sir! The Admiral wants to see you, Sir!" "Lead the way soldier" "Yes, Sir!" ALICE POV Nita comes back with my food and takes a seat across from me. "Was that Liam I saw sitting with you?" "Yes but he left" "That's interesting" "What is?" "Well, he doesn't really come into the mess hall to eat, he usually eats in his quarters or with the Admiral and them" "Well, I must feel honored then?" "You definitely must" A lady in uniform approaches our table. She looks friendly. "Hello" "Oh, hey, Tracy. Dr. Mitchell, she's the best nurse we have on staff" I stand up and give her a handshake. I gesture to the seat next to me. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Please, join us" "Thank you, Dr. Mitchell. I just wanted to come by and introduce myself. We're all very excited to have a new face onboard" "Thank you, Tracy, it's so nice of you to say. How long have you been with the Navy Seals?" "For almost two tours now, going into my third" Nita intercedes. "Tracy is really toning this down. She's the head nurse around here and no one does anything unless she says so" Nita winks at Tracy and she shyly looks down. "Well, then it's a double honor to meet you. It takes a lot of character to earn the respect of your co-workers. I can but only hope to earn mine too, as we work together" "Thank you for saying that, Doctor" I sit and eat the food they've prepared for me and I am enjoying the company. After dinner, I go back to my sleeping quarters. I get into bed and I try to fall asleep. I am not used to sleeping while the bed I am sleeping in, aren't on solid ground. The movement of the ship is something I need to get used to. It's a few hours into the night when I decide that maybe some fresh air will do me good. I maneuver through the halls and finally find a door to the outside. I open the door and the smell of the ocean fills my senses. I feel the wind through my hair and the unmistakable stickiness that comes with the sea air. I walk on the deck to the side of the ship. The moonlight is playing on the dark ocean in front of me. It's a warm summer night. I hear the waves crashing against the ship and I take a deep breath of the fresh ocean air. I stare at the ocean and an unfamiliar calmness comes over me. For the first time, I feel that I have to be here, that this is where I belong. I have always wondered if I made the right choice and this feeling right here confirms what I have been thinking all this time. This is my home now. I walk around the deck, just enjoying the quietness of it all when I see someone leaning against the ship's railing also staring at the ocean. I walk closer and then I see him. I can not help but think of him in all the wrong ways. He turns around and looks at me. His white, see-through shirt's top buttons are open, revealing his chiseled chest, cut to perfection. It's like he's teasing me with his body...
