LIAM
I just reported back to the Admiral about the danger we are in and then decided to take a walk and clear my head but then I saw the beauty that I have gotten used to seeing almost every day. She is sitting on a rock with her long, wet hair blowing in the wind. The red dress is showing off her silky long legs. I try to turn around but I am drawn to her because her splendor is pulling me in. I know I should not get any closer but before I could stop myself, I am standing next to Alice.
“Hey”
I do not know what I am doing here but I know that there is nowhere else I want to be. I feel nervous and anxious. My palms start to sweat and I can not believe I am feeling so out of control around her.
ALICE
I am staring over the still water just thinking about how peaceful it is around me. I feel so fulfilled and complete. I feel the wind softly blowing my dress over my legs and my heart is happy. I jump as I hear his voice next to me but then the feeling is quickly replaced by enjoyment. He brings a feeling of wholeness when he is around me and I know I want to be around him.
“Hey, what are I doing here?”
“I am sorry….I am not supposed to be here…”
He turns around and starts to walk back. I feel the warmth leaving my side. I want more of him.
“Liam!”
He turns around and looks into my eyes with intense passion.
“Yeah?”
“I am glad you are back...”
He smiles at me.
“Me too….me too…”
He turns around and then disappears behind the trees. I know now that I am even more in danger than what I thought. He has a strong hold on me.
LIAM
Oh god! I just made a big fool of myself. Why did I go there? She is messing with my mind…and I love it?
I know I can not be with her but I also know that I can not be without her. I walk back to the camp and then suddenly I feel very protective over her. I know what danger lies just a few miles from camp and I will not be very happy if something should happen to her. I stop dead in my track and turns around back to her.
I clear the bushes and then look for the rock she once sat on but my eyes can not find her. I start to look left and right but I can not seem to find her. My heartbeat starts increases rapidly.
Fuck! Where are you? Alice! Do not do this to me! If something should…should happen to you…god!
I know there is only one way back to camp and that is the way I came from. Different scenarios start running through my mind. I start to strategically work out in my mind, how the enemy could have gotten to her without me noticing it. I start looking for tracks and then fear overtakes me that I might find her body in the bushes and they are starting to take out the camp, one by one.
“God no!”
Then I see something moving in the bushes. My heart starts to race like it always does when I get ready for battle. I move into a position to attack whatever emerges from those bushes. Then I get a glimpse…
ALICE
Liam has such a strong hold on me. I try and get him out of my head. I am enjoying the peace that the wind brings and then decide to go back to the camp. I decide to just keep my distance from Liam. I start to walk back but then nature calls and I find a place to tinkle. I see a nice bushy area not far from the rock I just sat on. I make my way through the bushes and find the right place.
I do my business and then I hear something moving in the distance. I quickly finish and go to investigate. I move slowly towards the moving bush. I part the bush and I jump back.
“Oh!”
It is a beautiful little white bunny. I move closer to try and pat him but I know that, it would be impossible to do. Just as I get close enough to the bunny, it hit hops away. I shrug and then start making my way back to the ocean.
LIAM
I grab the person coming out of the bushes into the death grip and Alice fall to the ground.
“Aaaahhhh!!”
I am bewildered and sees it is Alice I am pining down on the ground. I quickly stand up and helps her up.
“God! I am so sorry! I am so so sorry!”
I dust her off and then put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“Are you okay?”
“I am a bit shaken up but I am okay. What were you thinking I am going to do to you?”
“I did not know it was you, I thought it was….nevermind, I am just so very sorry. Are you sure I did not hurt you?”
I am immediately filled with concern and immense embarrassment. I came over to see if she is safe and now I caused her to maybe get hurt. I try to console her but the situation stays awkward.
ALICE
“It is okay, but who did you think it would be for you to feel that you had to-“
Suddenly it dawns on me that I might not be safe on the island. I have been so busy enjoying the ocean being so peaceful, that I never thought there could be a danger on the island. I move my hand over my mouth.
“Liam…are we in danger?”
He looks down to the ground and starts to play with his foot in the sand.
“I can not really discuss anything with you. All I can say is, please stay close to the camp, please…please do not wander off alone”
“Of course…of course, I will”
“Thank you…”
“I uhm….was going back, are you going back?”
“I think I should and make sure you are okay getting there…”
We both start to walk back to the camp. I can feel the attraction between us. The atmosphere is so thick that I can feel it pulling us closer to each other. My heart starts to race and I know, I better break this attraction fast.
“So…Liam, I know so little about you…”
“Oh, I beg to differ, you know much more than most-….I mean, what would you like to know, Dr. Mitchell?”
“Okay, well…tell me a bit about your family?”
He clears his throat and then swallows hard. It is clear that this is a hard question for him. He looks at me and a hint of pain plays in his eyes.
“Well, my mom and dad both still working in the hardware shop. They’re both healthy and happy”
“Any brothers? Or sisters?”
He looks at the ocean, trying to find right the words.
“Uhm….no, I am the only child…”
