I take a deep breath when I step out of the cab. I look around at the high walls and steel gates, and I pull my trenchcoat tighter around me when I shiver. No, I'm not cold. The sun is still overhead so it's f*****g hot. It's the sudden fear crippling me that makes me shiver. Jail seems to be scary as hell. I pay the driver before I approach the gates. I'm ushered inside by armed guards, and I slowly walk across the stretch of drying grass to the entrance. Twenty minutes later, I'm seated across the table from a handcuffed Clay. The sight of him almost makes me sad. He appears to be haggard after only half a day in the cells, and the jail uniform makes him look like a plastic unicorn.
