CHAPTER 44 The little herd of five horses was just what she wanted. They looked at home in the snow, shaggy and alert, visibly thinner with the loss of some of their autumn fat. Best of all, they were short, though still too tall for Penrys to mount easily. She liked the look of a leopard-spotted mare—the brown dapples on the cream coat matched the bold temperament she sensed from her.
