The battle had drained me, but the thought of Everly always gave me strength and hope. I’d looked forward to seeing her, and holding her in my arms.
I went to her room after a brief meeting with Duncan but she wasn’t in her room. She wasn’t in the library or the garden either.
A cold sense of dread coiled in my chest. I called her through the mind link, my voice laced with urgency.
Everly, where are you?
