I pause my thoughts and spin around to look at him. I hadn't realized I'd spoken out loud. I tried to remain silent, hoping Ace would take it as a cue to ignore my sudden outburst. However, Ace didn't seem to understand my sudden silence. Or, if he did, he was taking pleasure in trying to get me to confess.
