The night was darker than usual, with clouds covering most of the moon. I stayed hidden near the edge of the forest, crouched low in the shadows. My phone was ready, recording everything I could see, its faint glow barely illuminating my hands. The air was thick and cool, carrying the scent of wet earth and fallen leaves.
