The sun was barely over the horizon when the alarm sounded again — a softer, less urgent tone this time.
I scrambled out of bed, Oakley’s presence already buzzing under my skin. My wolf was restless, keyed up, angry, and I could feel every inch of tension radiating through me.
Jax was already awake, standing at the window, watching the treeline. “Something’s moving.” He said, his voice low, a thread of concern weaving through it.
I nodded, rubbing my eyes. “I can feel it too. Last night… I could feel it inside me, the pull. The door. It’s getting stronger.”
He turned to me, his golden eyes serious, sharp as knives. “We can’t let anyone near you. Not now. Not while it’s like this.”
I swallowed hard. “I know.” My throat felt dry, tight with the weight of what that meant.
