As I held Paisley in my arms, I noticed right away there was something wrong with her. She was breathing hard, and as she nearly collapsed in my arms I could feel how warm she was. “Are you sick? You were just fine a few minutes ago,” I whispered to her as Nate and Jason started to circle around each other. I was worried, watching them circle. I could see the way Jason was looking at us, as if he was trying to get to us before Nate could stop him. I knew without a doubt if Jason got his hands on me, Nate would do whatever Jason wanted to get me back, and I couldn’t risk that.
