Lexi’s POV
“Lexi... Lexi wake up!”
I snap my eyes open at the sound of her familiar voice and sit up immediately.
“Astra, is that you?” I question, overcome with emotion. Not hearing from her for all these weeks was like having a part of myself constantly blocked off and out of reach.
“It’s me Lexi, I’m sorry I had to leave you.” she says quietly, with remnants of her suffering still present in her voice.
“No Astra don’t apologise it was me who let you down not the other way around. I should have been smarter. I should have known how to look after myself.” I answer sincerely.
When I was cooped up in that stupid cell all I could think about was how helpless I felt. I vowed then and there that I would never let myself feel like that again and it is an oath that I intend to keep.
