Deus Ex Machina

1452 Words

Catalina’s POV I hear Kayla walk over to me. I’m staring up at the battle above me. There are so many demons, it almost blocks out the sun. “Lina, are you ok?” She asks me. I bet I look as horrible as I feel. My side hurts, my arm hurts, my body has been pushed to the edge. “Yeah, I’ll be alright. But I need you to help me do something.” I lie, no one needs to know how bad I am. I need to do this. “Sure, anything.” Kayla says. “I need help standing up.” Kayla looks surprised and a little reluctant. But I try to give a firm look. So she tucks her arm under my shoulders. “Let’s start with sitting up.” She says. She lifts me up. I suck in air through my teeth as the pain in my shoulder and side cause my vision to blur. No Lina, you can’t pass out. You have work to do. Just stay strong
