Everyone on the battlefield fought until the last demon was dead. The aftermath was brutal. We lost a lot of people, but no death was felt heavier than Lina’s. Alastair looked like a shell of a person. He had been by Lina’s side this whole time.
“We lost Brit too.” He pauses, trying to control his emotions.
“She sacrificed herself as well.” When he told me Brit died saving everyone too, it was as if I could hear his heart breaking inside him. But he tried to stay strong for his men. Tarron mourned for his brother, Kieran. I know they didn’t get along, but watching him hold his brother as he took his last breath you would have never known. I think back to Zane’s death.
