Chapter 2: Day To Day Life (1) *** "Hey, do you want to watch that TV show again?" Nathan asked in an attempt to cheer up his friend. They've been regularly watching a comedy TV show for the past month or so. "Sure... Which episode were we on again?" Mason asked, while setting the two plates he prepared. "Season 9 episode 5 we're nearing the end!" Nathan said as he took his own plate and attempted to grab the other one as well before the other stopped him. "Did you wash your hands after coming back?" Mason asked like a scolding mother would talk to her child. "Ah... I forgot..." Nathan headed to the sink to do just that. "You sure you alright? I feel like your germ phobia is back again..." He remarked jokingly. "It's just hygiene... You can't go outside and touch those dirty door knobs and money and what not, then come back here and eat without washing your hands." Mason explained for what felt like the one hundredth time. "Yeah, I know... It's just not a habit of mine..." Nathan said as he picked up the plates again. He was concerned about his friend but decided not to pry anymore. He knew that asking him about it would do more harm than good. After watching several episodes of their favorite show, Nathan went to sleep quickly, while Mason decided to work a bit more before falling asleep. Or it was more accurate to say he was having trouble sleeping in general... Since a while back he's been staying up to as late as 7am in the morning and then waking up after only six hours of sleep. Which of course wasn't healthy but there was little he could do about it. Was he stressed? Certainly... So many things seemed to go downhill at once, which of course didn't discouraged him but it did make him wonder what exactly happening. Leo was sleeping quietly next to his owner's feet, curled up like a fox. Mason petted the animal before getting up to pour himself a drink... He had just moved in with his lover in their new apartment when Edward told him the news that he was going to the US to work alongside his brother. Mason didn't mind that... after all he was supportive of his boyfriend's decision. Yet he didn't see a reason why Edward couldn't just call him from time to time... "I know it's expensive to call from the US but can't you video call me on instagram? Or messenger? Or anywhere for that matter..." Mason muttered to himself as he stared down at his phone. Each time he'd get a new notification he'd hope that it was from his lover but it wasn't... Not once had the man contacted him since leaving, and on the other hand Mason was a bit too prideful to get in touch with the other anymore... He'd tried several times but there was no answer, and he wasn't the type to continue humiliating himself needlessly. "Damn you Ed..." Mason muttered again, he drank a glass of water then filled it up again and went to the terrace to look outside. "Am I supposed to just wait for you to come back like this? You're not even at war... what excuse could you possibly have to not call me?" He wondered. The cold air was hitting harshly on the man's pale face as he looked outside. The stars were up in the sky and the moon was even higher and brighter. It was a full mood which usually made it even more difficult for the man to sleep than usual, which made Mason only feel worse about the overall situation. He couldn't understand what was happening with Edward and why he wasn't calling him at all... Of course he imagined hundreds of scenarios where his lover had either lost his phone or maybe it was stolen, or maybe this and that... But in the end he knew that if Edward wanted to, he'd find a way to get in touch with him regardless of what it costs... Mason put down the water glass he'd just drank from on the oven outside, in the next second he accidentally pushed it to the ground. The glass shattering made a loud noise, waking up the sleeping Pomeranian in the room. "Leo, it's alright... Your dummy owner dropped a glass again..." Mason said as he went inside and petted the dog to calm him down. Then took a broom and went back to the terrace to clean up the mess he'd made. While cleaning he looked at the glass he broke. It wasn't a special glass or anything but it had already became annoying to Mason to constantly drop them. "Hi... you alright?" Nathan asked as he walked into the kitchen. Seeing his friend gathering up glass shards from the ground, he quickly understood what happened. "Yeah, I'm fine, awesome even..." Mason said as he threw the shards in the trash bag. "They say breaking these means you'll have luck... By the looks of it I should be the luckiest person in the country... In fact I should be winning the lottery any moment now..." He said in a self mocking tone as he turned to his friend. "What's up with you? Can't sleep?" "I don't know why..." Nathan said as he rubbed his tired eye lid. He sat down on the sofa and got comfortable. "I think I heard you talking to yourself again." "I was just... mumbling to myself..." Mason was typically a very positive person but nowadays he seemed down and about. Nothing like his usual self, though to an extent it was due to the excessive worrying and over thinking. Intrusive thoughts such as What if he's not contacting me on purpose, or what if he doesn't like me anymore? Dominated his mind and didn't let him rest easily. "If you miss him so much... Try calling him again." Nathan said as he laid down on the sofa. "I've already tried... I'm not doing it again, I'll look desperate..." Mason said as he put his phone down on his desk...
