The sudden noise jolted me, and my brows knit together in an instant.
Lorna's voice kept echoing, "Cadell, doesn't it strike you as odd? Why did Aurora agree to clarify the video thing only if you didn’t repay the debt for me? What does she have to do with the matters between the two of us?"
Cadell seemed convinced by her words. "So, Aurora's been scheming behind my back all along!"
"You're absolutely right!" Lorna chimed in eagerly. "When you first brought her back to the company, she'd berate me every chance she got. She'd ask if I'd paid back the money and even threatened to call the police on me!"
As Lorna wove her web of deceit, she managed to squeeze out a few crocodile tears to sell her story.
I could easily pick up on the phony quiver in her voice.
