“Go to her, sir. If you only just tell her how you feel, you can explain—” my Beta’s voice is fast and pleading.
I cut John off, not letting him finish his suggestion. It’s preposterous anyway. It would do no good, there would be no use in discussing the situation with Cara further.
It would change nothing. The simple fact remains that Cara has a husband.
...A husband with whom she shares two children.
A husband who is the Beta of her pack. Her eldest brother’s Beta, in fact. It was almost cruel of her, to dangle that question in front of me as she had done.
“Do you love me?” she had asked me back in Mia’s hospital room.
...I know clearly that my answer just now wasn't what she wanted, and I'm hurting her again and again.
