Gianna “Well, don’t you think it’s a bit weird?” Teresa asked over the phone. I’d just finished telling her about my unexpected meeting with Maximus earlier, and she sounded just as skeptical as I’d been. “I did think that,” I murmured, eyes glued to the proposal I’d been working on for over two hours. “And?” “But then he mentioned needing a proper evaluation process,” I explained, pausing to adjust a typo. “It made more sense. I mean, he did hear that entire conversation between me and Leo last night.” “Hmm…” Teresa hummed. “Well, what’s the worst that can happen if we give it a shot?” “Exactly!” “If you’re in, I’m in. But listen—you’re going to have to attend the meeting alone tomorrow. I already promised Nonna I’d take her to this... thing. I forget what it is, but I can’t bail.
