"Hurry up and get in the car Jade, we don't have all day."
I take a deliberately slow spoonful on my cereal, and flash my mum a sardonic smile. "Maybe I should just stay at home so I don't have to make you late," I suggest innocently.
"Don't be ridiculous," she says, tapping her foot impatiently on the tiled floor. "All your things are in the car and we don't want to have the Woods family waiting for you."
With an exasperated sigh, I stuff some more cereal in my mouth before taking the time to wash the bowl and spoon and then put it in the dishwasher. "I could just walk to their house."
"I'll be waiting in the car."
I roll my eyes as my mum walks out of the house, checking the lights as she goes. I follow after her, knowing there's no point in dragging it on any longer.
