I sat at my desk, the pile of paperwork in front of me a blur. The numbers and figures swam across the pages, but I couldn’t focus. My mind kept drifting back to what my assistant, Selene, had said to me the day before.
“Did you hear? Mason hasn’t been himself lately,” she had told me in a hushed tone, casting a quick glance around the office to make sure no one was listening. “It’s like he’s been... distant.”
