I need to talk to Zariah's dad, Patrick. He is my Beta, after all, and one would think I would talk to him all of the time. When he was my father's Beta, the two of them were together all the time, except for when my father was swindling cash out of the pack's coffers, apparently, and spending it on his fancy new house and cars.
But I hardly ever talk to my Beta, because, as everyone knows, he isn't really my Beta.
Who is my Beta? Well, not the person that's supposed to be.... No, I have fill-in Betas, Deltas and other higher-ranking pack members who are my friends and take over the duties of Beta. People like Eli. And Alex. And Kimber.
And… not Zariah.
I sigh and go out my office door, looking for Patrick.
Even if he is my Beta in name only, Patrick does have assigned duties
