Jake Abbot The preseason was already coming to an end. Sitting beside Winter, who was still sleeping, I was watching the away game on TV. Before the training camps started, I had already decided not to return to the team as a player. Winter and our boy would need me, and I wouldn't leave the hospital without them. William had refused my retirement paperwork and also wouldn't announce it. So, according to everyone, I was on leave. But it didn't matter what everyone believed; I wouldn't be returning to the ice as a player.
