CHAPTER 12

Julius became restless in his father's palace. He started thinking about what her father had said about her being bethroted to someone. "Could this be true? Was her father telling the truth about her being bethroted to someone? Has she been lying to me and cheating on me all these while? How come she didn't inform me that she was going on a date with someone? How stupid I am to have fallen in love with her just because she is the prettiest girl I've ever seen in my life. I thought she was a nice girl with a good heart but I shouldn't have judged a book by its cover. I can't withstand heartbreak, now she has my heart in her hands. What a fool I am to have given her all my love and trust. Pretty girls can be very dangerous when it comes to matters of the heart, this is a lesson I've learnt over time. Never again will I be fooled by beauty and appearance" he finally concluded his thoughts.

His parents took notice of this and questioned him about it. He told them that it was because of Juliana, the girl he has fallen in love with who is actually a princess. When asked about her fault, he replied that she had lied to him that she wasn't bethroted to anyone, denying what her father had said about her being bethroted to someone. But on a fateful day, he called her and behold the man that she was bethroted to was the one who answered the call, warning him to stay away from her and even threatened to murder him if he doesn't comply with his directives. He told his parents that he has been fooled by her beauty and gentle appearance and has already given her his heart in love.

His parents told him that he isn't supposed to be panicking too much as she has been the one spending money on him and if she was only going to waste his time as he thought, she wouldn't have spent so heavily on him coupled with the fact that she wasn't benefitting from the relationship as much as him. They asked him if he has slept with her at all and he replied that they haven't even thought about having s*x. He added that she has told him she wanted to lose her virginity on her wedding night.

They advised him that if he is truly in love with her, he should confront her about the issue and also reveal his identity as a prince to her so that she can see more reason to choose him over whoever she's bethroted to, no matter the consequences. They stressed the need for him to reveal his real identity as a prince to her so that her father can accept him to marry her. Julius told them that he would do so as soon as possible but first, she has to choose him over the guy who might be rich to further confirm that she isn't after rich guys and also, he will put an engagement ring on her finger, making her his fiancée. He concluded that it was after all these that he will reveal his identity as a prince to her.

And as they were still talking, his phone began to ring. It was Juliana calling. Before now, he had tried calling her several times but to no avail which was the major reason for his worry and restlessness. He excused himself from his parents to answer the call inside his room. "Hello my love....I'm so sorry, it's not what you think at all. My God! How am I ever going to explain this to you. I'm sorry that....." "Explain what Juliana?" Julius interrupted her. "Do you really have anything to explain? Okay, let's look at this. I've been trying to call you for heaven knows how long but your line is not going through. You blacklisted my number so that I don't interrupt your date with the man you are bethroted to. He's the one you want to marry but you've lied to me all these while that you aren't bethroted to anyone. If you don't love him, why would you agree to go on a date with him?" Julius sounded angrilly but wasn't as harsh as she expected. Juliana apologized to him for whatever insult or harsh words James must have said to him and also for not letting him know that she was forced by her parents to have a date with the suitor who she wasn't interested in. She told him that the suitor had answered his call when she went to ease herself and had blacklisted his number that's why he couldn't reach her on phone ever since. She also explained that she had tried calling his number since that day but she couldn't find it any longer in her phone's contact list which she believed was deleted by James as well. Julius asked about her being bethroted to the suitor and demanded to know the gospel truth but she denied it and swore that she wasn't bethroted to such a person. She said they were just meeting for the very first time and that was why she had refused to go on the date with him but was forced by her parents to do so.

At the end of their discussion on phone, they agreed to meet on a particular day. Juliana was glad once more that he was the understanding type and that he has seemed to easily believe her. Although he had demanded to know why she didn't inform him about the suitor as soon as she met him and she had replied that she didn't wanted to give him the impression that she was cheating on him or lying to him about what her father said that she was bethroted to someone. She added that she was definitely going to let him know if the man became desperate to have her as his future wife and wouldn't have allowed him find out himself, leading to suspicion of deceit. Julius anger was calmed and he seemed to have believed her, though not totally.
