Leira drew back on her bow when Hakim slammed a bolt of lightning through the gator's mouth. The gator took a halt before continue to snap at them until Leira shot an exploding arrow into its mouth.
The momma was dead, but a storm of rocks rained on the two.
"Block your head!" yelled Hakim now running with his arms curled over his head.
Leira followed in the same fashion, attempting to get away from the rocks. They ran into a couple of thick bushes where the rocks didn't touch them.
The monkey swang from the branches, looking for a way to attack. Three fire arrows shot out of the bushes, setting the trees on fire. However, so were the bushes.
The monkeys jumped and screamed out loud as they knew their prey would come out. Bushes covered a large area. All of the jumping monkeys were aware of the best exits. They guarded around the easiest places to exit in hope of chowing on human flesh.
The two remained patient as they were being smoked by the fire. Hakim guided Leira to snipe out the monkeys whenever they broke off into small groups. The strategy was an easy maneuver. All they had to do was remain unpredictable by staying in the denser spots.
The fire spread, taking away Leira's focus. Her vision dimmed to blurs as her skin formed tiny blisters. Hakim ran her out in his arms. A monkey jumped at him, but he killed it with a fireball.
Many others ran at him and his weakened friend. He laid her down and stood his ground. One after another, in what appeared as flashes of fire, Hakim murdered each attacking monkey with balls of fire.
Once the monkeys were all dead, an Orangutang charged its way towards Hakim. In response, he charged a ball of fire in both hands. The intense heat began burning nearby dead leaves. He fired the ball through the oversized monkey, leading to its death.
The flames spread through the forest, awakening its anger. No creature appeared to attack. Luckily, Leira's senses were coming back.
Rustling was heard in the trees. It could have been birds. But they recalled birds already attacking. Besides, birds weren't suited to fight in the flames. Closer observation revealed the leaves themselves were moving.
"Crap," said Hakim, realizing their next opponent.
A giant trunk slammed towards them. They evaded fairly easily. Both shot back with a fire attack. The tree appeared to be unphased. Even the flames growing through its branches didn't appear to truly phase it.
Hakim pulled Leira out of the way of another swinging branch from a different tree. Though she was still weakened, the two ran away.
Branches slammed and swung to no end. Flames grew, burning the entire forest. Both Leira and Hakim struggled to find a safe spot. Nothing stood out for them to attack. Just to endure the burning onslaught of trees.
Both were out of breath and felt to have already failed the mission. They ducked to avoid being slammed by a large swinging branch.
"I'm done," panted Leira.
Hakim swallowed his spit before responding, "I'm like best friends with a tank and a nutcase. I can do this all day".
"So I should stay away from those?" asked Leira.
"Definitely," answered Hakim, "They will run you insane. You'll love them though. They keep the game interesting. Ya' know"?
Leira stared up into the darkened smoked sky saying, "They seem fun. Like, what would this game be like without those people? Although, I do feel like they take it too far at the same time. You get me"?
He nodded his head admitting the truth. Hakim further advised Leira that she too will find herself a set of crazy friends and wilder enemies to battle against nearly every weak. They'll go on crazy adventures alongside and against one another to unintentionally learn more than they should've. That was the life of an amateur Isekai Game Player.
Oddly, their life was still resting there. The swinging branches stopped. The mission wasn't over. Hakim further noticed that though the forest appeared to be burning, the flames were in fact receding.
Prepared for what Hakim anticipated to be the final boss, they both prepared themselves for the final showdown.
They crept through the forest, searching the flames. A small set of fairies were found. Amazingly cute they were putting out the fire. Their giant eyes were disproportioned from their body. They wept trying to heal the forest.
Leira felt bad. Especially when a nasty looking fairy stabbed on to eat. She jumped back swearing. The other fairies flew away to avoid the nasty assault of the horrid looking fairy.
"That's our target," said Hakim as he launched a bolt of lightning at it.
With her head in the game, Leira fire an arrow at the creature. Its size was like that of a bald eagle. A pretty easy target if only it didn't fly like that of an insect.
It swooped to an angle, launching balls of acid that burnt through the living vegetation. They both avoided its gross attacks.
The evil fairy rolled its body from mid-air to shot needles when near. Leira timed her arrow for a direct hit.
Hakim stabbed the fairy. But the fairy latched onto his arm, inject it with poison. Hakim fired a lightning spell to knock it off. Sadly his infected arm went numb.
Leira fired arrows, each one exploding. Its moves were too unpredictable like a fly for her to hit.
Hakim let out a wave of lightning that briefly stunned it. It allowed Leira to blow it up once before it regained its momentum.
"Charge your next attack!" yelled Hakim.
Leira charged up, waiting for the next opportunity to strike. Hakim used his ice abilities to keep the critter at bay until his partner was ready.
He let out one more wave of lightning, allowing Leira to fire an arrow into the nasty fairy. Before it exploded, the two took cover to avoid being poisoned.
The fairies flew by to heal the forest. One healed Hakim's arm just as it was starting to act up on its own. Another fairy gave Leira a light that opened access to basic survival knowledge in Leira's development tree.
The trees in the forest cleared up, revealing their friends. Nana and Dezzy were standing next to them cheering Hakim and Leira as they walked on over. The day was already nearly done and the studio was closing in less than an hour.
Due to Leira's parents waiting outside the studio, Mina and leira had to leave early. They thanked their helpers for everything. Hakim felt thrilled to help the next generation of players as so did Vanessa.
Dezzy began hopping around, bringing their attention back to her and Nana. The two girls were looking for help for their missions. Ironically, neither was a suitable fit to help each other.
Pattie wasn't playing in January, leaving the girls to do as they pleased. Neither Hakim nor Vanessa had anything better to do the next. So they happily agreed to the new list of shenanigans. Dezzy called Vanessa as her partner whereas Nana needed Hakim for his intellect.
Gasps followed Nana's reasoning which implied Vanessa and Dezzy were stupid. Though it wasn't accurate, it wasn't entirely wrong either. Hakim was known as a nice smart guy. If only he had been in a better team with perhaps Chad, he would've been a popular kid.
The four had set an early time for the next day, Sunday, to meet at the race track for Dezzy's mission. Vanessa wondered if they should obtain their limit break first. Dezzy insisted it wasn't needed.
