Nathan drove Tracy to the airport on Saturday morning, he glanced at her on the passenger’s seat, he couldn’t tell what was wrong but he knew that since yesterday from when she picked him up from school, she had been moody or kind of lost in thought every time. He had tried asking her what was bothering her but she had always replied with nothing. He hadn’t forgotten what he discussed with Steven and he had stayed up all night wondering if he was right. Could Tracy really be attracted to him? Could she really be noticing him in that way?
Last night he had wanted to sit shirtless through dinner but his mother had called them home to have dinner with her, which was something that happened once in blue moon since she was often working late at night. Apart from last night, he couldn’t even remember the last time he had dinner with her.
“Are you okay?” he asked Tracy but she didn’t hear him. He sighed, glancing at her briefly before taking his eyes back on the road. He bit his lip, wondering what it could be, yes she had been acting strange since Monday evening but Steven had made him understand why she was like that, but know it was totally different, it was as if something serious was bothering her. He couldn’t help but wish she didn’t have to go to work today, he was sure that with the right amount of time, he could get her to say what was troubling her. “Trace,” he tried again and this time she looked up at him, “what is it?”
She smiled softly and shook her head, “nothing, I’m okay.”
“Hey,” he called, letting go of the gear to place his hand on her thigh and he saw her visibly stiffen and he was torn between believing it was out of desire or maybe she just doesn’t want him to touch her. He took his hand back to the gear and sighed, “listen, you know you can talk to me about anything right. You have been like this since yesterday and you kept saying you are okay but I know you are not.”
Tracy smiled and tugged at his cheek, “is Nathan-Boo worried about me?” she raised an eyebrow.
Nathan smiled and shrugged away from her touch, “I will always worry about you Trace, there is no denying that,” he glanced at her from the corner of his eyes, “apart from Mom, you are my number one priority.”
Tracy exhaled while nodding, she glanced out the window again, “you have gotten your license right?”
“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about it, it arrived on Monday.”
“Good, because you are going back with the car.”
“What? You always leave it at the airport.”
“I didn’t teach you how to drive to be leaving my car at the airport. The only reason I have been leaving it there is because you didn’t know how to drive and then you haven’t gotten your license. You can always pick me up when I’m back. I know Lucy don’t always have the time to drop you off and you either go with Steven or you take the bus. But why should it be like that when a car would just be parked somewhere?” she raised an eyebrow.
“But…”
“Hey, I’m not giving you the car if that’s what you are afraid of,” she rolled her eyes, deriving a chuckle from him, “you need a car Nathan, it’s not like Lucy doesn’t know, and it’s not like I don’t know as well. We are working on it, just give us time and in the main time, you can be using mine since I’m not always around. But then I will need to increase your weekly pocket money for fuel.”
Nathan blew out breath from his mouth; he bit his lip and said nothing. A lot was going through his mind. Was there a way he could meet a genie to add some years to his age so that he could get a job? He knew her taking care of him is what is expected from an elder sister but not what is expected from a lover, so how was he going to play the cards?
“Hey, what is it?” Tracy’s voice seeped into his thought.
“Nothing, only that I have been meaning to tell you that I want to get an after school job,” he replied.
Tracy frowned, “Why do you need an after school job?”
“To help around, I mean, you don’t need to give me pocket money if I have salary to look up to.”
“Nope, I refuse.”
“Trace, you haven’t even considered…”
“I refused,” she cut in, “I didn’t take an after school job just for you to do the same, so in case you are thinking of pointing out that I did, we are not the same. Understood?”
“I don’t see anything wrong with it,” he responded but she said nothing else and just look out the window. Silence ensued after and minutes later, he glanced at her, “hey, I want to ask you something.”
“What is it?”
“Can you come home on Wednesday?”
“Why?”
“The Homecoming dance is on Wednesday and I have always wanted to ask if you will go with me?” he bit his lower lip before glancing at her from the corner of his eyes.
“Go with you, to a high school dance? What am I, eighteen?” She chuckled.
“Come on Trace,” he rolled his eyes.
“I can’t Nathan, you know I can’t. I doubt if I would even be allowed inside.”
“Yes you will.”
“Fine, but I can’t get off work, you know that. If you want us to continue on our trip for your birthday on Saturday, I can’t come back.”
Nathan sighed, he knew she would say no, it was why he never asked, well, guess he would sit out this dance too.
“Hey,” she touched his thigh, sending a bolt of electricity through his blood vessels. He gulped and turned to her, “if we go to Hawaii, we would have as many dance as you want, promise. And that one, we won’t have high school students watching my every move.” She let her hand go a little higher on his thigh and he heard his heart beating like a thousand drums in his chest as the place her hand was burnt him like fire. “Also, I have a feeling this trip would be really amazing,” she traced circles on his thigh with her fingertips and Nathan could feel himself hardening and he just prays it doesn’t show on his pants. “And now, you really need to concentrate on the road,” she added, retreating her hand.
Her words woke Nathan up from the illicit thought he was having and he glanced at the road immediately, the car suddenly felt hot and despite the AC on, he couldn’t stop himself from lowering the window and breathing in the fresh air to calm himself.
“Hot much?” Tracy asked seeing him lower the window and he glanced at her.
“Um…yeah…um…I just…um…needed the air,” he gulped, refraining from looking at her. He heard her chuckle but said nothing. Minutes later, they got to the airport and she glanced at him.
“Why not go to the dance with any girl your age? I’m pretty sure you will enjoy it,” she said, waiting for his reply.
“Not interested.”
She smiled and nodded, “I will be back on Thursday, we will leave on Friday, so no school.”
“Okay, take care of yourself.”
“You too,” she smiled and leaned over the console, kissing him beside his lips, “bye Nathan.”
It took all the strength in him not to claim her lips, it was the first time she was kissing him so close to the lips. Memory of what happened in the car a while ago flashed back in his mind and he felt the arousal he had fought so hard to get rid of coming back and he gulped. Tracy stared into his ocean blue eyes and ran her tongue over her lips slowly and heard his sharp intake of breath. She refrained from chuckling and just ran her fingers in his platinum blonde hair and got out of the car. She opened the back door and brought out her duffel bag.
Glancing up at him, she winked and shut the door, a short wave at him; she turned to enter the airport. Swaying her hips purposely knowing he was watching. Despite seeing his reaction when she let herself a little lose around him, she found herself thinking of many ways to kill Stella should this plan fail and she ends up ruining her relationship with Nathan. But after seeing that tiny bulge on his pant when she touched his thigh, she knew there was no way it would backfire and so she prayed that heaven should forgive her for ruining such a young boy.
Nathan gulped seeing the way she moved her hips, he had seen her walking out before but never was her hips swaying that much, he doesn’t know why but he sure as hell knew he loved watching her sway those hips. Something she said earlier in the car flashed in his mind, ‘Also, I have a feeling this trip would be really amazing,’ “damn,” he licked his lips as he found himself looking forward to the trip with a new vigor. Whatever she has planned, he knew he was going to fall head first into it. Seeing her tiny stature disappear in the airport, he sighed and started the car, driving off and he knew what happened earlier in the car was going to be in his dream till he sees her again.
