She was frowning as she considered the only thing she had signed from Liev, had been documents he had told her were for the child support he insisted be deposited to her account and a trust fund he’d set up for Hadlee. “I didn’t marry Liev. You are mistaken.” She marched up the stairs.
“I am not mistaken,” the man continued spouting his nonsense. “I work for boss many years. I know when he says married, he means married. He does not mean the common-law thing American people love to do. He means legally married.” He caught her eye as she rounded the next platform to the last flight, “you signed paper. He had notarized. You are his wife. Heiress to everything. He changed his will.”
