Briar woke to warm, familiar breathing in her ear. Her body felt heavy as if it were weighed down. She tried to move, then realized she was in fact being held down by a heavy thigh and a strong arm.
The memories of the evening prior slammed into her. She whimpered clutching her stomach.
“Shh,” Liev’s voice was calming in her ear, “do not stress. I do not want your blood pressure to go up. My mother was here five minutes ago and checked it and it was good. Let’s not give her a reason to come back in to disturb our rest.”
“Liev,” she struggled under the weight of his body to turn to face him, “I have to tell you something.”
“You’re pregnant, yes. I know.”
“But I might not stay this way.”
“I know this too.” His voice was soothingly soft.
