Liev took a seat in the hotel lobby and knew Briar hadn’t noticed his arrival. She had headphones in her ears and was intently staring at her screens of her two laptops. She was in the zone, her lips moving as if she were singing along to a song. His eyes were trained on her, noting how she would pause, look at her phone or write down notes in a coiled notebook and then click her mouse again. She was oblivious to the outside world. He watched her with a smile as she did her thing. She had grown into a gorgeous woman. Her eyes were a deep shade of blue.
