Briar took a breath and opened the door and motioned for him to step inside. “Come in.”
He stepped into the open living room, eat in kitchen area of the apartment, and looked around. “Where is she?”
“Taking a moment in her room.”
“What does she know? What does she know of her father?”
“Until tonight nothing.
“And now?”
“I told her the truth.”
“The truth?”
“Yes. Sully got married and I fell for her husband. I got scared and ran when Sully wanted to blackmail her husband when she found out of our affair. I found out I was having a baby and instead of telling the truth, because I was frightened of possibly going to jail for extortion and moreover, I would not be able to compete with her father’s money and I was scared of losing her, I selfishly kept her to myself.”
