Lara's Point of View
I stared straight into his eyes, not intimidated by his piercing look. I don't know if he is trying to intimidate me but it is not working, probably because I killed my real emotions years ago. "So, what now?" I asked, raising my brows at him. "What are we gonna do now?"
"Home," he simply replied before turning around and started walking away from me.
"Am I supposed to follow you?" I asked, following his movements with my eyes.
"If you want to have a warm place to stay, then yes. But if you prefer the jungle, then stay," he answered monotonously before slowly vanishing into the dark.
"I prefer the former," I replied and dashed my way to him.
I was panting when I caught up to him. I kept on looking at him, waiting for him to say anything but he didn't. He was completely ignoring me and it is slowly getting on my nerves. "What, aren't you gonna say anything?" I asked when I finally got tired of waiting for him to utter even a single word.
"For what?" he lazily asked, not even turning to my side and looking at me.
"Hello, I just came here. Maybe a little orientation?" I responded, rolling my eyes and crossing my arms. "Or maybe a short welcome message?"
"That can wait," he replied then started walking faster so I had no choice but to take big steps just to catch up to him.
"C-Can you walk a little slower?!" I complained when my feet started to hurt while trying to level his pace. "Curse your long legs!"
He looked and me and sighed before he slowed down his steps. "We're close," he said while looking ahead.
I followed his eyes and saw a massive house not far from us. I couldn't see it entirely since it was dark, but I can tell from the part I saw that it was mainly made of wood.
After a few minutes, we finally reached his home. We're currently standing in front of a massive, wooden double door.
"Welcome," he said without any emotions and pushed the door.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Thank you for that warm welcome," I sarcastically said, following him inside. I was ready to comment about his house but what welcomed me left me speechless. The interior of the house looks like it just came out of a picture book.
There are vines and roots around and some glowing crimson fireflies. There are a few torches around that serve as the sources of light, and I was right when I guessed that this house is made mainly of wood. Even the furniture is made of wood.
"You can close your mouth or some fireflies might get in," he said before he started walking again. "This is the main hall. You can look at it again tomorrow. For now, you have to get in your room and rest," he added. "Follow me."
I just stood there and looked at him in disbelief. "Really? You will just let me rest after getting here?"
"Then what do you want me to do then?" he asked, looking at me with his emotionless eyes.
"Did you even prepare something for me to eat? That was a long journey, and I haven't had any meal since morning," I told him, and after saying those words my stomach let out a growl. "Heard that?"
He sighed at me and shook his head. "I didn't. Just go and cook something to eat," he said, turning his back from me.
Before he could even leave the room, I held his wrist to stop him. "Seriously?" I said in disbelief. "Are you being serious?"
"Yes," he replied, taking my hand off.
"You're unbelievable!" I exclaimed, shaking my head. "Can you at least take me to the kitchen?" I couldn't stop my anger from eating me up.
I have never felt the urge to slap someone this bad until now. I clutched my hands and took a deep breath to calm myself. This is just the first day. I will spend the rest of my life here so I don't want to mark my day one with anger and frustration.
"Fine. Follow me," he said, walking out of the room.
"Were you really expecting me to come today?" I asked him while marching down the long hallway.
"Yes."
"Then why didn't you prepare anything to welcome me?" I asked, keeping my voice from rising, so it sounded like as if I was gritting my teeth while speaking.
"For what? You're just here to be my vessel," he replied in a bored tone and it just pissed me off more.
"You could have at least made my arrival a little special," I insisted, rolling my eyes. "As if I have a choice not to come here," I added and watched his reaction but I didn't see anything.
I stared at his pale face and waited more seconds for any emotions to show, but nothing really happened.
"And I don't have a choice but to welcome you," he rebutted, and it really irked the hell out of me.
I bit my lower lip just to stop myself from yelling at him. I want to slap him, punch him, and kick his face right now! How ungrateful!
He could have at least welcomed me warmly and congratulated me for my safe arrival. He could have just made me feel like my arrival is anticipated and of great significance, but he didn't! He's a total jerk!
I never hated someone this bad before!
"Here's the kitchen," he said after we stopped in a dark room. "Cook whatever you want. Use all the ingredients you like then do whatever you want, just don't disturb me," he continuously said before marching out of the room, not even letting me say anything.
"You!" I screamed. "Damn you!" I stomped my feet so hard that I groaned in pain. I cursed under my breath and blamed that monotonic jerk.
God, this is just my first day but I am starting to regret coming here already. This man right in front of me is way too far from the man I used to imagine!
