After the conversation with Maeve, Aspen became very uncomfortable. She wasn't sure of to do next. She called her mom first to be certain she was doing fine.
"Mommy." She started.
"Aspen, are you okay, honey? I was about calling you." Her mom's eager voice said over the phone.
"Yes mommy. I called to know how you were doing." Aspen spoke.
"I'm good."
Aspen let out a breath.
"How is Baron? Hope he's fine too." She asked if her brother.
"Yeah, he is. Are you okay really? You sound a bit off." Her mom sounded concerned now.
Aspen pressed her fingers to her eyes as the memory of her conversation with Maeve, where Maeve had threatened to harm her mom and brother, played back clearly in her head.
