Forced to watch Delphine and Cain together all morning was as much of a torture as it has been for the past week. I had no right to say anything about it. I tried to reject him, but it still felt painful to see it. Everywhere I went they were together, both their heads pushed together as they smiled at each other, talked to each other, and completely ignored me. The way he stared at her, smiled at her, it wasn’t entirely the same as when he stared at me, but it was still enough to make me unhappy about it.
