We were all sitting around the inside of Jem’s house talking as we waited. We had gotten dressed a while ago, not needing as much time as the girls did. Maybe if we were back in the old dimension we’d have taken longer. I can still remember what it felt like wearing those buttoned-up shirts and the tuxes, trying to figure out how to tie a tie and forcing myself to keep the top button buttoned despite how much it felt like I was suffocating. I was glad I didn’t have to wear any of that here, that I’d never have to wear that, because here a simple shirt and a nice gold tunic were proper enough for such an occasion.
