Dexter pov
Ten years.
Ten long years, and we still haven't found her.
As triplets, my brothers and I knew we would share a mate. We've always shared everything. So when we tured eighteen, we were determined to find the woman we would share and call our luna. As the years went on, our hope dwindled. If it wasn't for our title as Alphas of the White Moon pack, I think we would have gone crazy searching the globe for her.
We took over from our father this year as his health declined, and he was no longer able to fulfil his duty.
As the eldest, I take care of most of the planning and finances as well as deals with other packs.
Deakin is in charge of our warriors and security for our pack. Even though he can be a little unpredictable, I trust him more than anything.
Dane is the youngest of the three and an absolute charmer. He takes care of most publicity and takes care of the packs social events.
Between the three of us, we have one of the strongest and largest packs in the land.
*Knock* Knock*
As the door to my office opens, I can see my brothers looking like they've just come from training.
" Everything ready for tonight?" Dane asks.
The holiday ball is his favourite event of the year.
" Yes, decorations are done, and the chef says the food is going well." I say.
" Why bother, it's not like we will find her? it's the same every year, we leave empty-handed." Deakin says, clearly not in the holiday spirit.
I get it. The first few years, I would get excited for the ball, hoping our mate would be there. As the years went by, I still loved the ball, but I would leave a little more disappointed until now. When I've accepted, we may never have a mate.
"Stop moping, you two. I've got a good feeling that this year is going to be different. Kage can feel it, too." Dane smiles, referring to his wolf.
Deakin scoffs at our brothers optimism. Deaks will never admit it, but he wants nothing more than to find our mate.
" Right, enough of this. We can't control whatever the Moon Goddess has planned for us, so we need to trust her." I say in an attempt to keep the peace.
" It's nearly five, and guests will be arriving shortly. I don't care what you two do, but I'm going to get ready." Something about Danes words have put me on edge. What if we finally find her? or worse, what if we are left disappointed again.
I stand and calmly walk out of my office to get ready, but my wolf is feeling antsy after the mention of our mate. So, instead of heading upstairs to my room, I turn towards the kitchen and make my way out of the service door there, shifting as I burst through the door in an attempt to run off my feelings.
Running didn't do much to calm my mind, but at least I'll be able to maintain my composure tonight.
I quickly dry off after a quick shower and get into my tux in record time. As I'm finishing tying my bow tie, I hear a knock on my door, letting me know my brothers are there waiting.
Walking out of my room, I take the lead while Deakin and Dane walk a step behind. We descend the stairs and head for the ballroom, the sound of chatter and music getting louder. Two ushers open the large oak doors for us to enter as we are immediately greeted by staff and pack members.
The room looks perfect. Our mother always had an eye for these things, and as we are yet to have a luna, she still helps with party planning.
As I scope the room, I can't help but notice an intoxicating scent. A combination of caramel and cinnamon surrounds me, but as I look around, the source of the smell is nowhere to be found.
My brothers seem to be looking around, too, ' Where is that incredible smell coming from? it's too early for dessert to be ready.' I say through our mind link.
' I don't know, but whatever it is smells delicious,' Deakin replies.
'Over there!' Dane points towards a group of warriors who are talking in a group. As one of the men moves and I am struck by the most amazing sight.
Standing there is the most beautiful girl, a petite little she wolf with long blonde hair and ice blue eyes, wearing a figure hugging pink gown. The smell of caramel and cinnamon becomes overwhelming, and I guess it's affecting my brothers too because before I can't even take it in, I hear my voice and theirs growl out.
" MATE!"
The young she-wolf looks towards us, and I watch in horror as her eyes go wide right before she faints.
Sh*t! I run over, but Deaks is faster, lifting her tiny frame in his huge arms. Dane and I mind link our pack doctor letting her know we need her, as we make up way out of the ballroom and up towards our private quarters.
As we begin to go up the stairs, I can hear a ruckus behind us. Turning, I find two of our strongest warriors, Jonas and his son Aiden, following and calling out to us.
" Jonas! What is the meaning of this?" I demand, not in the mood for pleasantries.
" Sorry Alpha, but that is my daughter, and I demand to know what you are all doing with her!" Anger crossing the older man's face.
" She may be your daughter, but she is also our mate! We are taking her to lay down until the doctor can check her over." I reply, getting impatient and wanting to be with my mate.
Giving me a look of understanding, Jonas backs off. " Please make sure she is ok, I'll let her mother know she is being looked after."
Giving him a curt nod, I continue making my way upstairs, stopping when I reach my room.
Stepping inside, I see the beautiful blonde laying in the middle of my bed, my brothers sitting on one side, our pack doctor on the other, checking over the sleeping girl.
" Doctor Woods, is she ok?" I ask nervously.
" Alpha's, as you know, being triplets, it was likely you would share one mate. But for the young lass, a bond with three wolves of your power and strength, can be intense. So my best guess is that the aura from the three of you has overwhelmed her and she needs rest. All her vitals are good and she will wake when she is ready." He replies before taking his leave.
Please wake up soon beautiful girl, I think to myself. We've been waiting so long to meet you.
