Jared smiled at her irritated tone, “I’ll tell you.” He’s now more than happy to share whatever she wants to know.
“Do you really like me?” He can’t help but ask as they neared their place.
Polly’s lip twitched and she rolled her eyes at him. “Don’t make me repeat myself.”
“Just this once. Please?” The happiness that stemmed from hearing it was unlike anything he’s ever experienced.
“Why don’t you tell me first?” She realized she couldn’t remember if he has directly told her that he likes her. Most of the time, he simply implied that in conversations.
“I like you.”
Damn, she was not expecting it to sound so . . . sincere. And heartfelt. She blushed despite herself and gritted her teeth to say it back.
“I like you, too.”
