Problem Arising

Since Zari wasn’t allowed to leave the castle ever since she was born, she has found ways to entertain herself and that is finding all the available secret passages in the castle.

And it has been very helpful whenever they would play hide and seek when they were kids. And now that they are adults, she uses it together with her brother and cousins to listen to every meeting being held in the Queen’s office in the castle.

Like this instant where they are gathered in a secret room that is connected to the Queen’s office, and they are listening to the meeting.

“What I don’t understand is that these rogues are like multiplying. I am sure a great number of rogues were already killed these past weeks, and yet they still keep coming.” They heard their grandfather, Alpha Liam said.

They looked at each other after hearing the word rogue. They are even more surprised to hear about witches, black witches to be exact. Those ones are pretty much dangerous and nasty as it has become a headache for their parents and their twin uncles years ago.

When they heard the Queen growled, they were startled and panicked that they rushed out of the secret room. The secret passage they took led them towards the kitchen. All four of them were panting real hard as they came out of the secret door, and leaned against it.

“We should really stop eavesdropping,” Crane said.

“If we don’t eavesdrop, we won’t know anything that is going on,” Zander said and then he walked towards the fridge and grabbed some bottled water and drank it.

“I agree with Crane. Not because it’s not good to eavesdrop but because I’m scared of grandma’s reaction every single time.” Seb said, and then he went to get water as well.

Then they went to sit on the stools around the countertop.

“Did the twins tell you anything?” Zander asked Zari.

“Nope. But I feel like something big is coming.” Zari said.

“Feel or you see something?” Shanaia asked.

“Just a feeling. I haven’t had a vision so far.”

Then they all sighed and propped their arms on the counter.

“Those rogues are definitely up to something. And if they are teaming up with black witches then it’s something huge.” Zander said and the others nodded.

“I heard from dad that rogues are looking for the hellhound,” Shanaia said.

“Hellhound? What’s that?” Seb asked and everyone looked at him.

“Were you not listening to any of our lessons?” Shanaia asked her youngest brother.

“I might have forgotten. So come on, refresh my memory.”

“According to what they taught us, a hellhound is a creature from the depths of hell, which is summoned by black magic. The Hellhound can shred his topcoat like a snake, and they are like Lycans, but mindless and soulless. They are monsters that will kill anyone in its path.” Zari explained.

“Oh. Okay, creepy demon lapdogs, I get it.” Seb mumbled.

“So those witches probably summoned a hellhound and now...” Crane trailed.

“I think the summoning happened decades ago. And now they are just looking for the hellhound that was summoned.” Shanaia said.

“How can they lose a creature like that? It’s not like a puppy that they can give out flyers to find it when it’s missing.” Seb stressed.

“Something happened that time of the summoning. And now the rogues are looking for it. What for? Can they control it to attack packs?”

While the others are discussing about the hellhound, Zander went quiet. Something in him bubbles up as the hellhound was mentioned. Zari noticed her brother being quiet and then she grabbed his hand. Zander looked at Zari and she asked him.

“Are you okay?”

“Y-yeah. I’m fine.”

During dinner, everyone was seated at the dining table, but they are still waiting for the Queen to arrive. And when the Queen got there, Alpha Liam was talking with Alex while Zander, Crane, and Seb were all getting scolded for playing on their phones. The three of them have been into mobile games recently and they just can’t put their phones down.

While the boys were being scolded, Zari on the other hand froze in her seat and she looked like she was having one of her visions. Her eyes were white and then she winced in pain making her close her eyes as her grip on her chair’s armrests tightened. When Queen Camilla walked closer, Zari’s eyes opened and darted towards her grandmother.

“Grandma!”Zari exclaimed, gaining everyone’s attention.

And then all of a sudden the Queen’s knees gave out, and Alpha Liam immediately came to her side. Everyone was surprised and got worried that they shot up from their chairs. When the Queen lost her consciousness, Alpha Liam immediately carried her bridal style and Alex opened a portal towards the infirmary.

The others just followed on foot and when they got into the infirmary, the staffs were in a panic because of the Queen’s situation. Alpha Creon who was the doctor on duty in the infirmary at that time was the one checking up on the Queen.

Alpha Creon ordered all kinds of laboratory and medical examinations on the Queen. The Queen then was transferred to the Royal Suite while they wait for the test results to come back. Everyone was waiting in the suite for the results, while Alpha Liam sat on the chair beside Queen Camilla’s bed while holding her hand.

Zander and his cousins are all seated on the couch, all huddled together waiting for any news. Then Zander noticed that his sister Zari was pale and looked torn.

“What’s wrong with you? Are you okay?” Zander asked but Zari didn’t answer or even look at him.

Zander figured it was all because she had a vision earlier.

“What did you see?”He asked her.

Zari tends to keep kept quiet about a vision that dreads her and Zander feels like whatever she saw it is important.

“Zarina, I asked you a question. What did you see?” Zander asked again, gaining everyone’s attention.

“Zari, sweetheart. Did you have a vision?” Zab asked.

Then Zari looked at them and nodded.

“What is it about?”

“Demise. That’s what I saw.”Zari told them and then she looked at her unconscious grandmother.

Then Alpha Creon came into the suite with Elder Philip, Amara, and Henry. Alpha Creon then told them the results of the test, and of course, it wasn’t good and it wasn’t even clear. Everyone was confused as to what is happening to the Queen and Elder Philip is starting to get frustrated.

“What the hell is happening?” He snarled.

“Zari saw something.”Zander blurted, and Zari glared at her brother.

“Shut it.” She hissed.

“Zari honey, can you tell us more about what you saw?”Alex asked Zari.

Zari looked at her hands, while she fiddles with her fingers. Alpha Liam turned towards her without letting go of his mate’s hand.

“You can tell us,” Liam said.

Zari looked at them and then she heaved a deep breath.

“I saw grandma slowly fading into nothing like she never existed,” Zari said, lowering her head and everyone looked at her confused.

“What does that suppose to mean?”Henry asked.

Amara then walked closer to Zari and knelt in front of her, pushing her face up.

“What else did you see in your vision? Is there more to it?”Lady Amara asked Zari who nodded.

“I saw a huge war coming. There are rogues everywhere, around our pack and other packs all over the world. And I saw this woman with red hair leading them.”She told them.

“What else?”

“I think I saw another scene. I saw grandma emerge from the castle and kill all the rogues, but the red-haired woman was no longer there.”Zari added and then Amara stood up.

“It looks like you had a vision of two possible outcomes.” Lady Amara said.

Because of Zari’s vision, they had an idea to have Zab look into the Queen’s memory. And through that, they found out that the Queen was cursed. And while the adults are trying to find a way to save the Queen, Zander never left his sister until they got back to their apartment. Zander worries about her as she was shaken up by her vision.

“I’m not just scared of what’s happening but I am also scared of what can happen, Zander.” She said.

Zander sighed and then he pulled his sister into his arms, and he strokes her back to comfort her.

“Everything will be fine. Everyone will work together to save grandma.” He told her, but he too is worried about the situation.

Then Zari pulled away from him.

“I feel something dark is looming around us, Zander. And it’s not even what got me worried.” She said.

“What is it?” He asked but Zari was contemplating if she should answer or not. She remembered the night of the sealing ceremony, and she thinks what she is seeing has got something to do with that.

“Zander, I feel some of that darkness sipping from you.” She said and Zander was taken back.

“What darkness?” He asked and then Zari raised her hand and she traced an invisible pattern on her brother’s arm.

“It’s like a flame sipping out of your skin.” She paused and then she cupped his cheek.

“We should be careful. You should be careful.”

Zander couldn’t sleep that night. What happened to the Queen and what his sister told him bothers him so much. He was tossing and turning for hours and yet, sleep just won’t get to him.

So he decided to take a run or have some alcohol. He got out of bed and wore his shirt. Zander usually sleeps with no shirt on, just sweat pants or pajama bottoms.

He went out of his room and went out of their apartment. He quickly went down the grand staircase and out of the door. Once the cool breeze hit his skin, he immediately shifted into his Lycan form and dashed towards the clearing.

Zander and Achilles had their mind and body in sync as they run. They run around for minutes until both feels like their lungs are burning. Zander shifted back to human form and that is when he noticed that they have reached beyond the protective line. He huffed and looked around. He was in a no man’s land, a place where rogue sightings occur all the time.

‘How did we end up here?’ He asked his lycan.

‘How would I know?’ Achilles answered him.

‘Are you saying you don’t know?’

“I am telling you I don’t know. Didn’t you take us here?’ Achilles asked back.

‘No!’

Both are confused. They are both in control but how come none of them knew how they ended up in that place.

‘Let’s just go home.’ Zander said.

He was about to leave when he heard a twig snap, and in just seconds he was surrounded by rogues. Their red eyes meant that are criminals and have killed for selfish reasons. And the way they are looking at Zander means only one thing, they are going to kill him.

“Let’s kill and eat him.” One rogue said and Zander felt scared.

Zander’s heart hammers against his chest and at that moment, his mind isn’t working. He is completely blank on what he should do in a situation like that. And when the rogues attacked him, he tried to fight them off but they ganged up on him and it’s like his years of training were useless. He felt weak, useless.

When one rogue hit the back of his head with a huge tree branch, Zander dropped to his knees as his darkness took over him. But before he was completely pulled into that darkness, he felt a fiery fury bubble inside of him and it spreads all over him.

Zari woke up early and she was looking for her brother. His scent was faint in his room and the apartment. So she looked for him all over the castle.

She was about to give up and just ask anyone when she got a whiff of Zander’s scent, mixed with blood. Zari suddenly got nervous. So she followed the scent and lead her towards the stable at the back of the castle.

“Zander! Zander!” She called.

The scent of her brother was strong there, but the scent of blood was stronger. Now she is more worried that maybe her brother got injured. But then, when she got to the last and vacant part of the stable she gasped when she saw Zander sleeping on the haystack and he was covered with blood. But now that she is close to him, the blood doesn’t smell like it was his. It smelled like someone else’s.

“Rogues.”
