Kalilah POV I wiped the sweat off my neck with the edge of my sleeve, breath still catching after the last round of training. I felt Mara's approach before she spoke—the solid footsteps, the faint scent of pine and metal. “You know,” she said, “they’re watching you.” I turned my head toward her voice. “I’m blind, not oblivious.” She let out a low laugh. “Fair.” “What’d I do this time?” “It’s not what you did.
