Chapter Nine He glanced up and smiled briefly. Abby felt her heart flutter. She bit her lower lip and tried not to frown. She couldn’t feel this way about her boss. Sitting his coffee down in front of him on the small coffee table. “Black coffee for you.” Abby said with a smile, taking in his newly changed clothing. She knew she was right, they were lovers. Walking over to the desk and Drake looked up at her, leaning back in the leather computer chair. He took a deep breath, and for a moment, she could have sworn his eyes changed colors. Abby shook her head. She was probably just tired. It had been a long day, even though it was still quite early. She sat Drake’s coffee down in front of him and frowned. “You have something on your neck.” She said, pointing towards his neck. It looked like blood. She tilted her head, worrying her bottom lip. “Are you okay?” She asked, concern coloring her voice. “I’m fine. I cut myself while shaving this morning.” He said with a smirk, lifting his hand up to touch the spot. Abby looked at him skeptically. She hadn’t seen anything on his neck before, and she didn’t think she believed him. Then again, maybe her eyes were playing tricks on her. “Oh, you have a friend here to see you, a Mr. Abbott.” He nodded and took a drink of his coffee. “This is good. What is it?” He asked. “It’s a mocha, it’s my favorite.” She said, turning back towards Owen, “Is there anything you’d like me to do, sir? I mean, Owen.” She said, “Sorry about that.” Hastily apologizing at her slip up. “I’ve left some paperwork on your desk. Let me know if you need any help with it.” He said, watching her over the file in his hands. Eli sat down on the couch, looking at both Owen and Drake. Their eyes tracking her every movement as they watched Abby leave the room. Oh no, oh no. No, no, no, no. No, this wasn’t good. He knew the look on both men’s faces. Hell, he had seen it many times before when they saw someone they wanted to take as a lover. f**k, just his luck. His mate was in his alpha’s sights. Well f**k! He would not give her up, he couldn’t. Maybe if she rejected him he could? That thought didn’t give him any pleasant feelings. It made something in his chest twist painfully sharp, like a knife’s blade. He carefully composed his features into a playful smirk and raised an eyebrow as he cleared his throat. “She’s sexy.” He said, smirking at both men to gauge their reactions. “Yeah, she is.” Drake said as he spun to look at him, “What can we do for you, Eli?” Owen sat the file he was reading down after making another few notations. He capped his pen and looked over at both men. “I need you to come into Moonlight,” Eli said, looking over at his Alpha. Owen looked between the two men, wondering what was going on with Eli. Eli seemed tense. Drake’s Beta was normally at ease whether he was at the pack house or on the stage with girls throwing themselves at him. His metal persona on stage caused him to normally have a flock of groupies hanging around, so his bed was rarely empty. It was something his pack mates and band members liked to tease him about. Although the handsome wolf’s bed was often filled, both Owen and Drake knew that he was holding out for his mate. He never slept with the same partner twice and was very firm about that rule. Drake couldn’t even count how many times he had seen some random groupie leaving the house in the early mornings reeking of s*x and the dark-haired wolf. “Did you find it?” Owen asked. “I did, thought I’d share.” He said with a shrug. He looked towards the door, thinking about the girl on the other side. Drake nodded at him. “I’ll head over there later tonight.” Eli pushed off of the couch to stand, stretching his arms above his head. “Well, I’ll be off then. Alpha,” he said, nodding his head at Drake before turning and doing the same for Owen, “Owen.” He strolled to the frosted doors and waited as they slid open. His wolf was practically vibrating under his skin. Excited to see his mate again, eager to claim her before any others could. He knew that he would have to work quickly, that was, if he even had a chance. He hustled down the short hallway towards her desk. Leaning against the door frame, he watched her concentrating on the paper in front of her. She had a pen in her hand that she brought to her lips. He let out a low groan, watching as she nibbled the lid with her straight white teeth. He’d never wanted to be a piece of plastic filled with ink more in his life. The way her lips and teeth were moving, he could think of several things she could be doing the same thing to on his body. Eli pushed forward with the rolling gait of a predator towards her. It was the same way he moved to pick up some random groupie and he knew it. He just hoped it would work with her as well. Eli had never been nervous about hitting on someone before. His palms started to sweat as she looked up at him, pulling the pen away from her mouth. “Mr. Abbott, are you already done?” “I am. Are you busy tonight?” He asked, his lips slipping into what he knew was a sexy half smile. “I’m not. Why are you asking?” She said with a nervous smile. “I’m interested in you.” He smiled at her blush. “What time do you get off?” “Umm, I’m not really sure.” She said with a shrug.
