“…And now, without further ado, the winner of this year’s contemporary artist of the year, Mr. Ian Hayes!” the emcee announced into the microphone and the whole room erupted in claps and cheers.
We were seated in the grand ballroom of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the largest art museum in the United States, and of the most famous art museums in the world. After hearing his name being called out, Ian was grinning from ear to ear as he planted a long tender kiss on my lips.
